Baker/Maybank, Ellison/Francis win SJGT Four-Ball

The teams of Will Baker/PJ Maybank and Morgan Ellison/Aly Francis were crowned as the champions of the SJGT Four-Ball held on February 13-14 in Auburn, Alabama. The Robert Trent Jones Trail Grand National Lake Course was host again for the annual team event. The field included 60 teams, and they had to endure cold and windy conditions throughout the event. Heavy rains prior to the tournament also made the course difficult as well.

Baker (Statham, Georgia) and Maybank (Cheboygan, Michigan) had a record setting total of 124 (20 under par) to claim the Male Division. Their first round 62 included 11 birdies and one bogey. During their second round 62, they had 10 birdies, including a five hole stretch from holes 14-18. The team of Rylan Black (Greensboro, Georgia) and Andrew Garger (Sharpsburg, Georgia) took second place with 66-63. The Cartersville, Georgia duo of Buck Brumlow and Blane Davis finished third with two rounds of 65.

Ellison (Peachtree City, Georgia) and Francis (Stockbridge, Georgia) successfully defended their 2020 title in this event with rounds of 72-66. They finished their second round with birdies on 17 and 18.  Auburn’s team of Christine Chang and Kate Ha was the runner up in the division with 71-74. Ella Manley (Calhoun, Georgia) and Christina Surcey (Cartersville, Georgia) rounded out the top three in the Female Division with 71-75.

Congratulations to the winners, and thanks to all who participated.
