Imig and Dubnik Win at Rain Soaked Chattahoochee
The Southeastern Junior Golf Tour made our annual stop at Chattahoochee Country Club in Gainesville, GA this weekend where we were met by excellent course conditions. We were faced with stormy weather forecasts for the weekend, but we continued as planned for Round 1 on Saturday.
Despite a couple scattered showers in the afternoon, the players were able to complete round 1 as scheduled. Ian Glanton of Metter, GA fired a 5 under 67 to take the lead for the male 16-19 division. He was closely followed by Jack Boltja of Thomasville, GA, Jackson Cross of Sugar Hill, GA, and David Dickey of Atlanta who all finished round 1 at 2 under.
Connor MacMillan of Canton, GA also finished the day with a 2 under 70 to lead the male 14-15 division. Bo Blanchard of Columbus, GA finished the day at 1 under and was followed closely by Ryan Black of Greensboro, GA and Parker Claxton of Claxton, GA with rounds of even par 72.
The leader of the male 12-13 division after round 1 was Brennan Cozad of Alpharetta, GA with a score of 2 under 70. Jack Rowe of Clarkesville, GA was close on his heels with a first round 72. John Brady Knight ofKennesaw, GA and Chase Kyes of Birmingham, AL both fired one over 73.
Ava Merrill of John’s Creek, GA took an early lead in the female 15-19 division with a first round 71. Mikayla Dubnik of Gainesville, GA was close behind with an even par 72. Mailey Grace Buzzell, of Warner Robins, GA and Mary Hunt Murray of Augusta, GA both carded 2 over 74 for the first round.
The female 12-14 division was led by Hailey Han of Duluth, GA who fired a first round 79. She was followed by Zoey Cho of Suwanee, GA with an 82 and Reagan Folk of Madison, GA with an 88.
It was decided that round 2 would be an 8 a.m. shotgun start to avoid the rain. This ended up working very well with only a few scattered showers throughout the morning round. The players were able to overcome the elements and fire some awesome final rounds.
Cole Imig of Birmingham was able to tackle the weather conditions and fire a final round 5 under 67 to win the Male 16-19 division and overall male 14-19 division. Jackson Cross of Sugar Hill, GA carded a final round 2 under to take second in the male 16-19 division. Andrew Hughes of Dawsonville, GA, Ben Seay of Signal Mountain, GA, and Ian Glanton of Metter, GA all finished the tournament at 3 under for the weekend. Andrew Hughes took third after winning in the scorecard playoff.
Marshall Butler of Macon, GA took first in the male 14-15 division with a weekend total of 1 under par. He was followed by Andrew Garger of Sharpsburg, GA and Will Baker of Statham, GA who both finished the weekend at 1 over par. Garger took second after the scorecard playoff and Baker took third.
Brennan Cozad of Alpharetta, GA carded a final round 75 to secure the win in the male 12-13 division and finished 1 over for the weekend. John Brady Knight of Kennesaw, GA followed him with a weekend total of 2 over par. Jack Rowe of Clarkesville, GA took third with a two-day total of 4 over par.
Gainesville’s own Mikayla Dubnik fired back to back rounds of even par to take the win for the female 15-19 division as well as the overall female 12-19 division. She was followed by Ava Merrill of John’s Creek, GA at 2 over par for the weekend, and Mia Sessa of Augusta, GA at 3 over for the weekend.
Hailey Han of Duluth, GA carded a pair of 79s to take the win in the female 12-14 division. Reagan Folk of Madison, GA and Zoey Cho of Suwanee, GA tied for second with a two-day total of 166. Folk took second after a scorecard playoff.
