Cordell and Preus are Champions at Callaway

The tournament at Callaway Gardens this weekend was played on both the Mountain and the Lake courses. The girls and the young 12-13 year old boys played on the Par 70 Lake Course and the Boys 14-19 played their competition on the Mountain Course which used to hold the PGA Tour Buick Open.

Elisabeth Preus who is from Auburn, Alabama had an outstanding score of 67 in round two to capture the victory by eleven shots. Preus’s round had a total of six birdies and just three bogies for her 3-under par total. Second place was captured by Morgan Ellison who had rounds of 73-78. There was a tie for third between Macall Miller, Christian Williams and Mailey Grace Buzzell and after the tie was broken Miller won the third place honors.

Lindsey Cordell who is from Rome, Georgia had to play one extra hole against Kyle Bachkosky to win the overall Boy’s Division. Cordell made a birdie on the first extra hole to win the tournament. Cordell had rounds of 73-74. Bachkosky took second place honors and there was a tie for third between Kye Meeks and Wyatt Brackett. Meeks was able to win the scorecard playoff to take third place. Bachkosky who is from Peachtree City finished second overall but he was able to win his 14-15 age group and he was followed by Wyatt Brackett and Robert Davidson. The second place finisher in the 16-19 division behind Cordell was Kye Meeks and the third place finisher was Owen Malcolm. The winners of this event are exempt into next Month’s Tournament of Champions that will be played at Willow Point GC in Alexander City, Alabama.

Finally the top performers in the Boy’s 12-13 Division were Tristin Wisener, Mason Crowder and Ethan Coffield. Wisener who is from Hartselle, Alabama was your winner after he shot 72-75. Wisener won by three shots over second place finisher Mason Crowder and by five shots over the third place finisher Ethan Coffield. The SJGT gets back on the road in two weeks when they travel to Gulf Shores, Alabama and play a tournament on Gulf Shores Golf Course.
