Daniel/Williams & Davis/Garrett win SJGT Four-Ball
Despite heavy rains early in the day, round two of the SJGT Four-Ball was completed on Sunday and gave us an exciting finish. There were many changes at the top of both the male and the female leaderboards, with the eventual winners being Davis/Garrett and Daniel/Williams. Thank you from all of us at SJGT to all players, spectators, and RTJ staff for your co-operation this weekend.
The overall female championship became very tightly contested as the second round progressed. Daniel/Williams were the eventual winners, having held a five-stroke lead entering the day. The pair carded rounds of 66 and 73 to hold off a strong charge from Little/Preus. By the 14th hole of the second round, Little/Preus had made a huge comeback and found themselves one-stroke ahead of the eventual winners. Daniel/Williams finished strong, with a number of consecutive birdies, to take the title. Little/Preus finished on 140, after rounds of 71 and 69. Finishing third in the division was Brooke Gober and Hannah Nall with their 145 total. Rounds of 72 and 73 left Gober and Nall at one-over par for the tournament and one-stroke ahead of fourth place.
The male division saw eight teams within three strokes of the eventual winning total. Davis/Garrett finished on top, after rounds of 69 and 66 put them nine-under par. The pair birdied their final four holes, to snatch the title from second-place finishers Smith/Vincent. Despite a birdie-free front nine, Smith/Vincent made three birdies and a bogey on the back nine to shoot two-under par. Smith/Vincent finished at eight-under par, with their rounds of 66 and 70. Finishing third in division, after a scorecard playoff, was Means/Meshad. Shooting 68 on the final day, with a 69 in round one, Meshad/Means finished at 137 for the tournament.
