Hampton Cove Junior Classic begins with a hot start

The SJGT is playing in Huntsville, Alabama this weekend at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Hampton Cove. Eighty-six players took over today on the Highlands course. Weather was a tad chilly in the morning hours but through the afternoon saw high 70's and sunshine.

In the Female 12-14 division we find Mikayla Dubnik of Hartselle, AL paving the way with a 6 over par, 78. Coming in second after round one is 2021 graduate, of Berry, AL Erika Allen who fires a 79. Tying for third place looking to make waves in round two are Emilia Smith of Enterprise, AL and Mailey Grace Buzzell of Warner Robins, GA who shoot an 84.

The Female 15-19 division finds our overall girls leader. Local Huntsville native, Michaela Morard fires an even par 72. Sitting in the same position at second as her sister is Karlee Allen of Berry, AL who shoots a 4 over par 76. Ally Williams from Athens, AL looks to see her name on top of the leaderboard in round two as she sits at third with a 79.

Shaun Cook of Norcross, GA is your leader in the clubhouse of the Male 12-13 division. Cook who hails from Norcross, GA fired an impressive 32 on his back nine to bring his totals to 74. Drew Wilson of Potts Camp, MS sits at second with a 4 over par 76. Trailing closely behind is Collins Trolio from West Point, MS who sits only 3 back from the lead with a 77.

In the Male 14-15 division we find Kye Meeks from Walnut, MS leading the way with a 4 over par 76. Three players sit tied for second in the division with a 5 over par, 77. Those players are: Eli Maxwell (Memphis, TN), Thomas Regan (Muscle Shoals, AL), and Drew Miller (Arlington, TN).

The Male 16-19 division is where we find day one overall leader in Michael Olmsted Jr. from Milton, GA. Olmsted fires the only round of the day under par with a 2 under, 70. Daniel McKenzie from Atlanta, GA and Jordan Plunkett from Sterrett, AL are tied at second in blue numbers of 72.
