Easley and Lambert win Ole Miss Junior Classic
The Southeastern Junior Golf Tour finished up round two yesterday at the Ole Miss Junior Classic. Round two started off early in the morning with overcast skies and a slight breeze.
In the female 12-19 division, we find Cassidy Lambert from Gretna, LA won the division and also came away as overall Female champion for the tournament. Lambert shot rounds of 73-77 for a six-over par finish. Lambert went into a playoff for overall champion, beating out Karley Whittington from Vicksburg, MS with a birdie on the first playoff hole. Whittington shot 76-74 for a 150 finish. Mikayla Dubnik from Hartselle, AL fired rounds of 78-74 to bring home third place.
The male 12-13 division also saw a tie for the lead. Wells Williams from West Point, MS and Coe Murdock from Mountain Brook, AL both shot rounds of 76-77 for a 153 total. It only took two holes for Murdock to claim the division, as he beat out Williams on hole 10. Sitting in a lone third from West Point, MS was Collins Trolio with his rounds of 78-76 for a 10-over-par finish.
Will Patrick from Oneonta, AL won the male 14-15 division as he fired a one-under-par total. Patrick had two round scores of 72-71 for a 143 total. Matt Wilkinson from Ridgeland, MS won a scorecard playoff for second place as he shot rounds of 72-73. Kye Meeks from Walnut, MS fell short in the playoff after also shooting rounds of 72-73.
The male 16-19 division was where we found our overall male champion for the week. With his second win in a row at this tournament, C.J. Easley from Oxford, MS fired consecutive rounds of 67 for a 10-under-par finish. Jacob Hatter from Alpharetta, GA found himself at second with a six-under-par finish, recording rounds of 71-67. Matthew Smith from Athens, AL shot rounds of 72-68 for a four-under-par total to bring home third.
