The Southeastern Junior Golf Tour was founded on the principle of giving junior golfers a chance to play competitive golf, while building their resume for a potential collegiate golf career. In 1994 the SJGT held its inaugural event in Atlanta, GA and during that first year we had 60 members. In 2017 the SJGT will celebrate its 23rd season, with between 35-40 events and a projected membership of more than 1,000 junior golfers. Over the last 23 years the SJGT has not only expanded in the number of events on our schedule and in our membership, but we have also extended the areas in which we administer tournaments. SJGT events can now be found in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
The SJGT is meeting the needs of our growing membership numbers, by scheduling more events at some of the most prestigious courses in the southeast. Past and present venues include; TPC Sawgrass, RTJ Courses (Dothan, Mobile, Point Clear, Huntsville and Opelika), Atlanta Country Club, The Harbor Club, Idle Hour Club, The Ledges G&CC, Old Waverly Golf Club and Saugahatchee CC. The SJGT has also scheduled a number of events in college towns, to provide a junior player the chance to visit some of the great colleges and universities across the southeast whilst playing in SJGT events. The SJGT will host events near the following colleges or universities in the 2016-2017 season: Auburn University, University of Georgia, The University of Mississippi, Huntingdon College, UAB, Florida State University, University of North Alabama and University of Alabama.
The SJGT staff makes every effort to administer our events in a professional and courteous manner and to make each event special for the players and parents. We take each player and tournament seriously and work extremely hard to provide your junior golfer with the best possible tournament experience. Should you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.
The Southeastern Junior Golf Tour Office is located at 221 Cook Street - about 5 blocks from downtown Auburn and the Auburn University Campus. The SJGT staff consists of the Executive Director, two full-time Tournament Directors and one full-time Media and Marketing Director. We also employ college interns to assist with administering tournaments on an as-needed basis.
